Dental bridges are one of the options for replacing missing teeth that have been lost. At High Dental, we have helped many patients to restore their smiles with dental bridges. Here is some information on the procedure and what you can expect.
What Is a Dental Bridge?
A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic solution to replace missing teeth utilizing the adjacent teeth as support. This procedure is generally recommended in cases where the adjacent teeth have been heavily damaged and require crowns themselves.
There are 2 types of Bridges: a conventional bridge where supporting teeth have to be prepared for crowns or an adhesive bridge where no cutting of the supporting tooth is required.
What Is the Procedure for fabricating Dental Bridges?
Similar to the procedure for porcelain crowns, dental bridges require two appointments with the dentist. The first appointment involves preparing the teeth to make room for the crowns that will support the bridge. An impression will be taken so that a temporary bridge can be designed to fit your mouth. During the second visit, the temporary bridge will be replaced by a permanent bridge which is cemented into place in your mouth. In some cases, tooth preparation is not required. There are many different types of bridges made from different materials. High Dental will select the best procedure for your needs.
What Are the Benefits of a Dental Bridge?
There are many benefits of dental bridges for patients. In addition to replacing your missing tooth or teeth, your smile can be improved. In cases where there is no bone for replacement of a dental implant, bridges offer a fixed prosthetic alternative.
