The use of Concentrated growth factors in dental implantology and bone grafting

Bone is constantly rejuvenating through a balanced equilibrium of bone resorption and new bone formation. For an implant to integrate with the bone in our body, this process of bone resorption and new bone formation has to take place. The process of dental implants successfully integrating within our jaw bone is known as osseointegration.

Concentrated growth factor therapy can greatly accelerate the osseointegration process and there are new studies finding that it enhances implant stability in the critical early recovery period (first 6 weeks).

Concentrated growth factors can be extracted from a patient’s own blood by separating the cells in your blood with a centrifuge. A layer rich in stem cells and healing factors can then be harvested to areas which require bone augmentation such as graft sites and extraction sockets.

Because the blood comes from your own body, it is compatible and safe. There is no concern over disease transmission or tissue rejection. Furthermore, because the growth factors are separated from the red blood cells, the concentration of healing cells is increased and greatly accelerates tissue and wound healing.
